Acupuncture & Pregnancy

Pregnancy and motherhood can be a mixed bag of highs and lows.  Along with the excitement and anticipation of a new baby, there can also be worries and unexpected changes.  Anxiety, acid reflux, fatigue and water retention are just some of the imbalances that can happen as our bodies adjust to carrying around another life.  Childbirth, the postpartum hormonal shift, and lack of sleep that follows the birth also affect our body and psyche in major ways.

If you’re finding pregnancy or postpartum life difficult, it’s important to get support.   There is no need to suffer during this vulnerable-feeling time.  Just as important as planning a nursery is building a support network for yourself.  As someone who experienced discomfort during my own pregnancy, I would love to be part of your support team.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective modality for alleviating many of the symptoms that may accompany pregnancy and the postpartum period.  While acupuncture is most known for helping to induce labor and flip breech babies, it can help with many of the conditions experienced during pregnancy and after childbirth.  Fatigue, digestive issues and mood swings can be problems throughout a pregnancy, in addition to issues like sciatica, back pain and swollen ankles that come into play towards the last half.  All of these can be treated with acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Relief from these symptoms may require regular treatments throughout the pregnancy.   Ask me about my prenatal support package deals, and we can work together smooth your way into motherhood.
